WHAT IF...

How to reach beyond a conditioned response?  Beyond a binary. Toward something unexpected.  To push back against rigidity and predetermination in search of (something) free, fluid, and dynamic.  Space to move and grow.  To be unstuck in a world where we often do get stuck.

My work starts on the potter’s wheel.  And then— play, gesture, color, line.  Rearrangeable ceramic pieces often partner with functional everyday objects.  They are held together for the moment but are always subject to change—fragility, a dialogue between the present and familiar, and an unknown, unexpected future.  Open spaces—loops, holes, shelves—are central to the work, maybe even the reason for making it.  In their openness, possibility, potential… hope?
